Henry M. Abromson, Bio

After growing up in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, approximately one half hour southeast of Pittsburgh, Henry attended The Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a B.S. degree in Marketing with a Minor in Information Systems and Statistical Analysis. While at Penn State, Henry was very active in student organizations. He served in the Undergraduate Student Government, first as a Faculty Senator for the Division of Undergraduate Studies, and then as the Director of Internal Affairs for the Academic Assembly. He was also a member of the elite organization on campus, Lion Ambassadors. Henry served as the Summer Executive Vice President and Tour Director for Lion Ambassadors. In addition, he served a leadership role in many other committees on campus, including the Homecoming Committee and Dance Marathon Security Committee. In 2001, Henry was selected as one of four men to the Homecoming Court, based on his leadership contributions to the University. He was also given the opportunity to dance in the 48 hour-long Dance Marathon to raise money for kids with cancer.

Henry was selected as a member to the Phi Eta Sigma and Golden Key academic honor societies, and Omicron Delta Kappa, a leadership honor society.

After graduating from Penn State, Henry attended law school at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Henry chose Marquette because of its superior Sports Law program. There, he concentrated in both Sports Law and Intellectual Property. He was active in extra-curricular activities there too. Henry served as the Founding President of the Jewish Law Students Association, as a member of the Dean's Search Committee, as a member of the Orientation Committee, and as an orientation leader.

Henry was also very active in the Sports Law program. He was selected and served as the Lead Articles Editor for the Marquette Sports Law Review, the only law review in the country dedicated exclusively to Sports Law. He was also a member of the Sports Law Society and was given the opportunity to serve Sports Law Institute Internships for the Milwaukee Tennis Classic Foundation, Intersport Inc., a sports marketing firm in Chicago, and the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club.

While at Marquette, Henry earned a joint JD/MBA degree. Additionally, Henry published two articles in nationally recognized legal publications. The article entitled, “The Copyrightability of Sports Celebration Moves: Dance Fever or Just Plain Sick?” was selected for publication in the Marquette Sports Law Review (14 MARQ. SPORTS L. REV. 571 (2004)). The other article, “The Uniform Domain-Name Dispute Resolution Policy: Will ADR Succeed Where the Courts Have Not; A Proposed Solution to an Imperfect System” (2 RUTGERS CONFLICT RESOL. L.J. 1 (2004), at http://www.pegasus.rutgers.edu/~rcrlj/articles.htm.) was selected for publication in the Rutgers Conflict Resolution Law Journal. For this article, Henry won the James Boskey Dispute Resolution Essay Contest. He was also invited to and delivered the paper at the Association for Conflict Resolution/American Bar Association Annual Conference in Sacramento, California in 2004.

In 2004, Henry became a member of the Litigation Group at Ober, Kaler, Grimes and Shriver in Baltimore, Maryland. He focused, primarily, on intellectual property and construction litigation matters.

Henry is currently practicing law with Greber & Associates, P.C. in Frederick, MD. There, he practices Corporate, Intellectual Property, and Sports Law. He also teaches Sports Law at Villa Julie College, located in Owings Mills, Maryland. In addition, he frequently educates and advises both students and attorneys on sports law matters.

Outside of work, Henry competes in marathons, triathlons, and duathlons. In November 2007, Henry became an Ironman, finishing the Florida Ironman in Panama City Beach. He is also the Founding President of the Frederick Triathlon Club. Henry is also involved in many professional and community leadership organizations, including, as council member of the Sports and Entertainment Section of the Maryland Bar, and as a member of the Sports Lawyers Association, the National Sports Law Institute, the Sports and Entertainment Section of the Wisconsin bar, the Frederick Bar Association, and the Frederick Jaycees. Henry is also a proud graduate of Leadership Frederick.
